My Sister, My Friend

Good Morning!

It's a bright and sunny morning here today, but very, very cold.  

My card for today is the card I made for Emma from her big sister.  Turquoise is Emma's favourite colour.  The finished card was 8 x 8 which is quite a large card for me, but I wanted to fit her name on and also use the lovely die-cut circle which a friend sent to me.  I love the effect of the die-cut, and when Santa brings me my new die-cutting machine, it is quite likely I'll order this die.  This image is from Crafters Companion Swalk Set 2, and the backing papers are from the accompanying cd-rom.  I love this range, they are such fun to colour in.  The image is coloured in using brushmarker, and the ink around the die-cut is from Big and Juicy hydrangea applied with cut n dry foam.  The cardstock is pearlescent white from PaperMill and is such a lovely quality.

Now Emma has had her birthday, I need to get cracking towards Christmas, not least of all with my Christmas cards!!!

Doggy Birthday Card

Hello

Today's card is the one I made for my daughter's birthday yesterday.

The shapes were cut using Stamps Away layering templates and then all joined together.  The stamps are from Joanna Sheen, Dimension Fourth and Pink Gem Designs.  I used various cardstock from PaperMill and the images were coloured using brushmarkers.

I enjoyed making this card, although it did take quite a long time, but most importantly, Emma loved it so job done!!

SWALK Get Well Soon

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend.  We're all very tired here today.  My daughter had 4 of her friends round for a birthday sleepover.  They were all still chatting at 1.30am, and then got up at 7.30am.  How do they do it??????  Even my poor dog is shattered today!!!

Today I am going to try and post my entry for Crafter's Companion Monthly Challenge.  All this linking business is confusing me no end, but I'm determined to keep trying!!

This card was made using the Get Well Soon stamp set from SWALK Volume 1.  I coloured the image with brushmarkers.  The backing papers are printed from the SWALK set 1 cd-rom, but unfortunately I cannot get them to show up very well on the photo.  The flowers are Prima flowers which I bought from Joanna Sheen and the leaves are punched from silver paper using a Nellie Snellen punch.  I've used organza ribbon across the bottom, threaded through a spellbinders buckle which was included in some goodies sent to me by a friend.

Christmas Is Coming!

Good Morning!

It's lovely and sunny here today, and even though I seldom leave the house, I always feel much happier when the sun is shining - I'm sure I'm not on my own there!

I'd like to start with a 'Very Proud Mum' moment.  We were invited back to my eldest daughter's high school last night for the presentation of the GCSE certificates.  The class of 2010 had achieved the highest results ever for their school!!!  After witnessing first hand all the hard work and stress that surrounds these exams, I am delighted that their efforts have been rewarded so fantastically.  

And now for today's card.

This was made using Joanna Sheen's Elegant Fan's cd-rom.  I only got this cd-rom recently, and I love it!  I made myself be very brave and added a tassel!  The background paper was printed onto some pearlescent paper I bought recently from PaperMill and the matching box was made from white linen card, again from PaperMill.  The only thing left to do is add the insert (that is the part I don't enjoy!) and I'm going to make the insert out of the same pearlescent paper.

My youngest daughter is 10 on Sunday, so there is great anticipation in our house at the moment!  I'm going to finish off her birthday card today, before she gets home from school, and I'll post this after I've given it to her as she likes to read my blog and I don't want to spoil the surprise!

Christmas Window

What a cold and miserable day it has been today - thank goodness for crafting!

Today's card is made using Cute Companions Winter Tales cd-rom for the window, and the snowglobe is from the accompanying rubber stamps range.  I triple-embossed the globe to mimic the appearance of glass.

I have been having a look around a few crafters blogs this evening, I am amazed by the number of blogs and the fabulous array of cards that people make.

I am entering this card in the My Time To Craft Challenge - Window Fun.

Sparkly Butterfly

I've been thinking of setting up a blog for ages, and finally took the plunge.  It seems such a lovely way of being in touch with other crafters, and if anyone should leave me a comment, even better! You are very welcome here.
 

This is the card I have made for the LOTV Anything Goes challenge..  I used a set of stamps I got from the Dimension Fourth Project Club and enjoyed having a really good play!  The colour on the card is from Big and Juicy Hydrangea ink pad (my fingers are all lovely colours now lol).  I had my first go with Fantasy film for the butterfly - this one is Krista's Eyes and in between the layers I used Violet Pearl Angelina Fibres.  It looks lovely and shimmery in real life!  I coloured some white pearlescent paper using the big and juicy again, and used this for the flowers and leaves, punched out with Nellie Snellen punches.  I used a few gems for the flower centres to add a bit of sparkle and then to finish off, made a bow out of 3 different ribbons.

This is the first challenge I have ever entered so am quite excited (not because I expect to win, although that would obviously be a real treat, but because I've managed to enter and link to my blog!!!!).

A Simple Card That Says So Much

I tried to post this on November 11th, as it was such an appropriate card for the day, but I've had no end of problems blogging and so have had to set up a new blog and import the post!

Poppies are one of my favourite flowers, and this rubber stamp, which is one of Sheena Douglass's new range, stamped beautifully and was a delight to colour.  I stamped the image onto some pearlescent cardstock that I purchased recently from my local Papermill.  I stamped with a Black Versafine ink and coloured with my Lyra Aquacolours.  I then matted and layered it onto some more card from Papermill and put the sentiment (again from Sheena's stamp plate) onto the card with some foam tape just to make it stand out a bit more.
