In The Pink

I'm back once more with another challenge card. This is my entry into the Willow Sketchie Challenge where we were given a sketch to follow.

The papers I've used for this card were all from a previous issue of Making Cards magazine. The base is vellum, attached to the card with little floral brads. The bunting is made from a co-ordinating paper. The pearls were from my stash.

Strawberries For Teddy Bea

Good Evening

It's a new challenge over at Teddy Bo today. This time we are asked to make a Shaped Card. This gave me the perfect excuse to buy one of Gayle's gorgeous images that I had on my wish list 'Strawberry Picking'.

This adorable Teddy Bea was coloured with pencils. I can't draw for toffee, so found a free strawberry image which I downloaded and then printed onto red paper. The stalk was printed again onto green paper. I then cut out a strawberry shaped card and added the various layers. Teddy Bea was attached with glue gel.

Then came the challenge! How would I make the card stand up? After many failed attempts at creating a stand that would still allow the card to fold flat, I eventually came up with one that did the job.

I couldn't help smiling as I was cutting out the strawberry. It reminded my of a time we took the girls strawberry picking on the Isle of Anglesey when Emma was about 3. We told her she wasn't allowed to eat any of the strawberries until they were paid for. Well these strawberries smelled so delicious and were the size of apples, so of course they got the better of her. By the time we went to pay, all over her face and all down the front of her t-shirt were pink! The woman on the till couldn't help but laugh!!!!

This is another card I've made from a rather neglected cd-rom.

This is a really lovely cd, Precious Petals from Joanna Sheen. This is a very cute image and the backing paper is also printed from the cd.

The border across the bottom of the card is made using a Spellbinder Fleur de Lis die, and the flowers are die-cut using some Nellie Snellen dies.

Walking In A Winter Wonderland

Good Evening

In an attempt to avoid the usual panic, I am determined to make a proper start on my Christmas cards. For the card, I followed the current challenge over at Winter Wonderland which is Blue and White. They are also having a blog hop.

This card is made using some of my project club stamps from Dimension Fourth. All the images are stamped onto white card. For the polar bears and icy rocks I went round the edges with a light grey pen. The signpost is coloured using a light brown brushmarker. I used pinflair snow dust on the polar bears and iced diamond on the snow. I made a stepper card, and then fitted a gusset underneath to stop it splaying. Some blue card, torn along the edges to add an extra effect, was then attached to the layers of the stepper. I stamped some paw prints onto the various layers.

I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles

Good Morning

Thank you for all your good wishes yesterday. Unfortunately my condition means I am in pain all the time, but sometimes the pain gets even worse so that it limits me even further. All I can do is wait for it to pass. Your messages mean a lot to me, thank you.

My card today is made using the precious petals cd-rom from Joanna Sheen. I think the backing paper is from a Debbi Moore cd, but I made the card a while ago so can't be sure lol.

The die-cuts are all Marianne dies and the gem embellishments across the bottom I thought looked like bubbles!

Less Is More - Pick A Square

Good Afternoon

I hope you are all well. My condition gave me a heck of a day yesterday and I was in too much pain to think straight so I've yet to visit other LImettes blogs. It's a little easier today, so I've had a bash at this weeks Less Is More challenge.

This week we are asked to pick a square.

I decided to use the middle square and my image is created with some Flowersoft stamps which have never before seen the light of day! I stamped the wheelbarrow and then the flowers onto watercolour paper and coloured using my Lyra's. The square is then matted onto some green cardstock and then onto the main card base which is a white linen card from PaperMill.

I can't believe how many entries have already been submitted! I'm now off to do a bit of visiting.

By The Sea

A very quick post from me today as my pain is so bad I want to cry!

I've been trying recently to make better use of my cd-roms, and todays card uses a beautiful image from the Pamela West cd-rom from Joanna Sheen.

I used Divine Swirls embossing folder to add some texture and some co-ordinating flourishes cut with Marianne dies.

A Walk Together

Hello there.

It's a cold, wet, miserable day here in Manchester, so I'm working with some summery images to cheer me up.

Today's card uses another of the All Our Yesterday's decoupage sheets from Joanna Sheen.

The backing paper is from the House-mouse inserts cd-rom, teamed with purple cardstock from Papermill. The flowers are made from the same backing paper cut with Marianne dies. (I'm a bit addicted to these roses at the moment!).

Anyone for ........golf?

Over at the Cards For Men Challenge Blog the challenge for this week is 'No Paper'.

I decided to make a bit of a novelty card for this challenge, inspired by Clairebears football card.

The images are rubber stamps from a Crafts UK set called (wait for it) Golf!!! I stamped using Versafine onto watercolour card and painted with Lyra's

The card was cut with a circular die and then run through my big shot with swiss dots embossing folder to make the card look like a golf ball.

A Card For You

Good Afternoon.

I hope you are well.

My card for today features the adorable SWALK characters, and this image is taken from the 'After The Rain' stamp set. Last night I was stuck in a queue on one of those really annoying telephone systems, so I painted the image while I was waiting!

This adorable little lady is painted using Lyra's. I stamped her with Versafine onto watercolour card. The backing papers are printed from the first SWALK cdrom. The dark blue mat she is sat on is cut using a Nellie Snellen die, as is the sentiment tab. The flourishes are cut using Marianne dies.

The inside of the card is decorated to match the front.

A Special View

Good Morning

My card for today is one I made for a 70th birthday card.

The inspiration for the design came from my blog header, which is a photograph of a view that has special meaning to me.

I used the Hobby Art In The Country stamps to build the scene, which I then coloured using brushmarkers.

A sentiment was then added which has been put onto a tag cut with a spellbinders die.

House-mouse Sunflowers

Good Evening

The sun is trying it's best to make an appearance, so fingers crossed for tomorrow. To bring a smile on a gloomy day, I have spent the afternoon cutting out and assembling this card.

Isn't this just the cutest?

This is a decoupage sheet, available from Joanna Sheen, and the quality of these papers is fabulous, they really are a joy to work with.

The base card is a white hammered cardstock from PaperMill. I layered onto this some orange card, and then onto that some sunflower backing paper, printed from the Pamela West cd-rom (again from Joanna Sheen), together with some yellow card that I had embossed with a floral embossing folder. The flowers were made from the sunflower backing paper, and I added a little brown flowersoft to the centres.

I decided not to put a sentiment on the front of this card as I feel it is appropriate for a number of different occasions.

Cuddles for Baby Bo

Good Morning

I'm back with my favourite Teddies again today. My friend became a Grandma for the first time a few weeks ago, and she is completely smitten. As soon as you mention her grandson's name, a huge smile appears on her face, I'm so happy for her.

So as soon as I saw this image from Teddybo.com I just had to have it for her birthday card.

The image is coloured with pencils. The backing paper is from my stash and the Marianne doily was die-cut with my new die which arrived yesterday. I'm delighted with this die, it's beautiful. I was lucky enough to win a £10 Joanna Sheen gift voucher recently and this is what I chose to spend it on. It cost me the grand total of £2.99!! I ordered it at 3.45 pm on Friday and it arrived yesterday. Now you just can't get better service than that.

Anyway, back to the card! The tag across the bottom is a spellbinders die which I threaded some ribbon through.

The inside of the card is decorated to match the front. I'm sorry the quality of this photo is not so great, it's chucking it down here today and so is really dull.

Good Afternoon,

Sadly I needed to make a sympathy card today. It's for one of my husbands friends who has sadly lost his mum this week.

I ran some centura pearl card through my big shot with an embossing folder. The sentiment is silver peel-offs. The flowers and leaves are made using a Marianne die and plain vellum. The butterly is again a Marianne die made on white glitter card.

The centura pearl is matted onto some platinum pearlescent card. The base card is a smooth white cardstock from PaperMill.

Oriental Lofty

Good Morning!

Happy Saturday, I hope you are well.

Yesterday I had a visit from some friends who I haven't seen for quite some time. It was lovely to see them all. We exchanged belated birthday presents, and as they know of my love of giraffes, my presents included some gorgeous giraffe pyjamas. I want to send them a thank you card, so last night sat down and created this card.

I'm ashamed to say I've had this lofty stamp set for a long time and it has barely been used. It seemed very appropriate for the card.

All the images are from the same stamp sheet and were coloured with Lyra's. The lovely backing paper is from Joanna Sheen's Eastern Treasures cd-rom, and I printed it onto pearlescent paper.

I really like this style of card but find it really difficult to make. I coverred it with the backing paper and then added a punched border, made using a Martha Stewart punch. The frame is a Marianne die cut from gold mirror card.

Patchwork Polly and Friends

Good Afternoon

This is a card I have been working on for the last few days. I couldn't decide which stamp to use so decided to go with them all!

I love this stamp set and now only need to get Patchwork Jenny and the set will be complete.

All the stamps were stamped onto watercolour card using versafine ink. I coloured them using watercolour pencils. I find these really difficult to use but am determined now I've bought them to keep trying!

The shape of the card was made using a get in shape template.

The base card was cut in one from white cardstock and then inked round the edges using Big and Juicy Hydrangea Ink.

Viva La Divas

Good Morning

My cards for today are made using the Viva La Divas cd-rom from Joanna Sheen. It's such a lot of fun this cd, and you can change all the captions to personalise them if you want to.

This uses one of the toppers from the cd, and I've changed to wording slightly. I've used a Martha Stewart Punch around the page for the mat and then added some prima flowers. The leaves are made using an x-cut embossing punch with a bit of colour added for the veins.

The second card is decoupaged and I have used the sentiment on the cd.

Just some simple matting and layering for this card and then I added the ribbon border.

The sun is back this morning, and I hope it stays for a while. My pain is definately affected by the wet weather.

A Round With Teddy Bo

Good Morning

My card for today is one I have made for Fathers Day, using the lovely Teddy Bo. I couldn't resist making a penny slider.

I've taken 2 photos to show how the golf ball moves around the card.

Teddy Bo is coloured with pencils. The backing paper is printed from Joanna Sheen's house mouse cd-rom. The golf ball is made using a circular die, which I then added dimples to using an embossing tool. The grass is cut with a Martha Stewart punch. The sentiment was created using the Krystal Tips alphabet stamps from Dimension Fourth, and then layered onto a hexagonal die-cut mat. Whilst the wording looks a bit crooked in the photo, it is in fact perfectly straight. It's a bit of a mystery to me the way photographs can distort cards!

In The Country

Good Morning

My card for today is made with the fabulous In The Country stamp set from Hobby Art.

I stamped the images using Versafine ink onto watercolour card. I painted using Lyra Aquacrayons and then went over the water with some shimmer paint.

For the mount, I used some dark green cardstock and embossed the lines using a scoreboard.

I'm still getting the hang of building scenes with these stamps and have to say I'm quite happy with how this has worked out.

Ahoy Teddy Bo

Good Morning.

It's a new challenge over at TeddyBo today, and this is one I always look forward to. I must have been a bit psychic this week, because the card I had ready to post for today fits the challenge perfectly!

Meet Pirate Teddy Bo.

Teddy Bo is coloured in pencils and then I've cut round the image so I could add him to the card with a bit of dimension.

I printed off a treasure map, crinkled it up and then went all over it with vintage photo distress ink to give it an 'aged' look. I then made the little bunting from coloured card, to match the bunting on the image and add a bit more colour to the card.

The insert in the card again uses the treasure map, with a white panel to write in.

I am entering my card into the Teddy Bo Challenge which this time is Teddy Bo only (I hope Bea isn't too upset).

Birthday Girl In Aqua, Pink and Lemon

Good Afternoon

I hope you're having a good day.

My card for today is a birthday card made using a digi stamp from Pink Gem Designs.

I love this image and really enjoyed colouring it in using my coloured pencils.

The backing paper is from my stash. The pink paper was punched around the edges using a Martha Stewart PATP. The yellow butterfly border was made using an EK Success punch. The mat she is sat on was die-cut using a Nellie Snellen die, as were the flowers and sentiment. Little pearls from Joanna Sheen were added to the centres of the flowers, and the little butterflies are the one's cut out from the punched strip. The sentiment stamp is from the Patchwork Polly range of stamps.

The inside of the card matches the front.

Ice-Cream For Teddy Bo and Teddy Bea

Good Evening

I hope you've had a lovely weekend. It's not stopped raining here!

My card for today is a gate-fold card. I've not made one of these for ages, and had forgotten how difficult they are to photograph, so I've taken 3 separate photos.

This is the photo of the inside of the card.

The backing paper is one I've had in my stash for ages, and I thought would work really well with the image. The mat Teddy Bo and Bea are sitting on is a Nellie Snellen hexagonal die. I've coloured the Teddies in pencil, aren't they just the cutest? A couple of feathers were added.

On one side of the card front, I embossed some silver mirri with the swiss dots embossing folder. The flowers are made from pearlescent card and are cut with dies that came in the hexagonal set. They are simply layered and then a little pearl (from Joanna Sheen) added to the centre of each flower.

The other card front is made from pearlescent card embossed using a cupcake embossing folder.

Less Is More - One Layer Card

Good Evening

Must start my post by congratulating Manchester City on winning the FA cup. There's been great excitement in our house, even Murphy joined in!

Thank you to everyone who visited my blog and commented on my last LIM card. Unfortunately a lot of comments were lost due to the problems with blogger this week.

This is my entry for this weeks Less Is More challenge.

I used dark blue cardstock which I dry embossed using the Majestic embossing board. I then stamped the dandelion clocks from the Inkylicious Meadowbreeze set of stamps. I stamped using versamark and then heat embossed using fine detail silver embossing powder.

The sentiment was also stamped in versamark and heat embossed using the same embossing powder.

My card for today is a Good Luck card for Manchester City in the FA Cup final this afternoon.

Ruby Wedding

Just a quick post today after all the issues with blogger. I haven't half missed visiting all the usual blogs today.

This is a card I made for some friends Ruby Wedding Anniversary this weekend.

The layout is similar to the WOW card I made earlier this week, but this time I used my new Marianne English Roses die for the flowers. I tried to roll some tighter than others so they were more like buds.

The inside of the card was decorated to co-ordinate with the front. The card has been delivered this evening and I'm delighted to say they loved it.

Great excitement building in our house tonight in anticipation of the FA cup final tomorrow. I've promised Emma I'll watch it with them and am actually quite looking forward to it. Go City (Manchester City that is!).

The CD Sunday Challenge - Let's Go Oriental

Good Afternoon

I was all set to post this morning when Mr Blogger decided to have his difficult head on. This also meant I couldn't visit other blogs, so I'll be doing my visiting later.

I am actually showing 2 cards today. I enjoy entering the CD Sunday Challenge, and the DT there are a really lovely group of ladies who always take the time to comment on your cards. The theme for this week is 'Let's Go Oriental'.

I went straight to my quite recently purchased Eastern Treasures cd rom from Joanna Sheen. I selected my image and backing papers and decided I was going to make an Invertage style card for a change.

I decided to use both accompanying backing papers, together with some silver mirri, and I layered the images using 1mm foam tape. Some ribbon and a couple of pearls were added to complete the design.

I decorated the inside of the card to co-ordinate.

I realised when cutting the invertage that it left me with the same layers in Pyrimage, so rather than waste them, I decided to make a second card.

Slightly different layout this time, still using the same backing papers, and in my wisdom I decided to try and create some paper flowers to look like the flowers in the image (I think it's a peony).

I didn't have a suitable punch for the petals, so cut out rough petal shapes by hand. Would you believe it took me almost 3 hours to make these flowers!!!! I was sat resting because my pain was at full pelt again, and needed something to do to try and detract from it.

The middle of the card is decorated in the same way as the first.

Thank you to those of you who left me such lovely comments on this post. Regretably, with the problems with Blogger over the last few days, it appears that these comments have been lost.

WOW LIM BNFL

Or in other words - White on White, Less Is More, But Not For Long!!!

Well I looked at the new challenge over on Less Is More on Saturday and thought I wouldn't be taking part this week!!! I've never made a white on white card in my life and didn't know where to start. BUT, there's something about this challenge that really grabs you. I think so many of us really do find it a challenge, and want to push ourselves to achieve it. Also the hostesses Chrissie and Mandy are so encouraging and so many LIMettes visit other blogs, it really feels like a special community.

So I've spent the last few days trying to think of an acceptable idea. Over on Joanna Sheen's craft forum I've seen some beautiful WOW cards made by my Sheenie friends, and today I've finally got a card to post! So here it is.

It's made with a combination of Centura Pearl card and white glitter card. I used a cuttlebug folder to produce the embossed frame, the flowers and leaves are cut using Marianne dies, as is the butterfly. The flower was layered slightly using glue gel and a little white pearl popped in the centre to complete the card.

But, then I kept looking at it, and I couldn't help it, I had to give it the 'ribbon treatment', I'm sorry Chrissie and Mandy!!! I used a combination of organza and satin white ribbon, and then added some small pearls to the ends of the organza ribbon to hide the glue. So here is version 2. Not so LIM!!!!

I'd love to know what you think. I'm now off to visit some fellow LIMettes to see what they've come up with for this challenge.

Bea's In Love

Good Morning

Hasn't the weather been strange over the last few days? Please come back Mr Sunshine!

I couldn't resist and just had to have another go at the current challenge over at TeddyBo. I love Teddy Bea and Bo and I love making easel cards, so here is my second entry to the current challenge.

I remembered to choose my papers before colouring in the image again, and these are some more papers from a previous edition of Making Cards magazine. I love the colour in these papers so it made it quite an easy choice for me. Teddy Bea is coloured using pencils. I've used a Marianne die (for the first time) to make the beautiful circular frame, and also the frame which holds the sentiment. The sentiment is a LOTV stamp.

The flowers are cut from the same papers using a Marianne die, the leaves are a x-cut embossing punch, and the centres are made using a punch. The ribbon is from my stash as is the heart charm which I felt worked really well with this card.

As well as the challenge at Teddy Bo, I would also like to enter my card in the Polka Doodles Challenge, which is also an easel card.

Today I really must finish my LIM card which is sat in bits on my desk!

Teddy Bea Among The Flowers

Good Morning

I've been out this morning woo hoo!!! We've all been up to the dentist for our 6 month check. I'm in so much pain now, with getting in and out of the car, the wheelchair, the dentist chair! Murphy is sulking big time, he always sulks when I've been out. I keep telling him I've not been out having fun, but will he believe me? Well the look on his face says it all.

With a bit of look he'll have forgiven me by weekend!!!!

Anyway, onto today's card. This is my latest purchase from Teddybo.com, mind you it is Teddy Bo Tuesday and there are some adorable new releases out today, so I could well be adding to my collection :D. I LOVE colouring in these bears (you may have noticed lol).

Here is Teddy Bea wearing a beautiful necklace she has made from flowers. I couldn't resist this backing paper, I thought is went so well with all the flowers, and is also very sweet. The mat she is sat on is die-cut using a Nellie Snellen die. The ribbon border is a Marianne die, as is the butterfly which is made using glitter card. The flowers are from my stash and the leaves are cut using a woodware punch.

Teddy Bea is once again coloured in using pencils. I decided this time that she could wear a red dress and hat, to pick out the colours of the ladybirds in the backing paper. I put her on the mat using glue gel to add further dimension to the card.

Playing In The Puddles

Good Afternoon

We have the strangest of weather today, we had hailstone not half an hour ago and now the sunshines back!

My card for today shows Teddy Bo playing in the puddles.

For once I chose my backing paper before I coloured in the image, so I could colour my image accordingly. I decided to pick the green from the backing paper to colour in his coat and hat. I had a real good sort out of all my papers yesterday, and this is from a crafthouse press book I bought yonks ago.

Teddy Bo is coloured in pencils and then I used glossy accent over the puddle, unfortunately it doesn't show up too well in the photo but looks very effective IRL.

I used an embossing folder that reminded me of waves on the red card, and cut a mat from the same card using a Marianne Die and the embellishment at the top is made using a Spellbinders die from the fleur de lis set. A few buttons were added to complete the card.

A Special Wedding Card

Good Evening

I hope you've had a lovely weekend.

A friend asked me if I could make a 'special' wedding card, and this is what I came up with.

The design, which is out of a Framecraft booklet that I adapted slightly, is stitched onto 18 count white aida. I made the aperture frame from silver mirror board, lilac pearlescent card, and centura pearl card.

This is how I did the inside.

I used vellum from my stash, and a Martha Stewart deep edge punch.

I made a matching box out of Centura Pearl, but forgot to take a photo of it!!

My friend was delighted with it.

Teddy Bea and Bo Hanging Out The Washing

Good evening

I'm back again with my favourite Teddy's and this time they're hanging out the washing!

Isn't this image so adorable? I love it. The design is coloured using pencils. The backing paper is from an issue of Making Cards magazine. The corners are made using a Marianne die. I couldn't resist adding the little pegs to the card, and the tulip pegs to hold the sentiment.

I went with bright and cheery colours to brighten up a very dull day.

Teddy Bea Among The Stars

Good Evening

Today's card is my entry into the current Teddy Bo Challenge which this time is to make an easel card.

I have used a gorgeous image of Teddy Bea sat on the moon, surrounded by stars. I coloured the image using pencils and then embossed the moon with a sparkle embossing powder.

The shape for the easel card was made using a 'Get In Shape' template, and I couldn't resist making a shaker card! Various stars and micro beads make up the shaker elements. The stars around the shaker are stamped using a Dimension Fourth stamps and heat embossed with the sparkle powder.

The sentiment tab is a spellbinders die, in a colour to tie-in with Bea's dress, and then a few more stars are attached to the base.

These images are so adorable, and this is one of an ever-increasing range of digi stamps available from Teddy Bo. It's lovely to see Teddy Bo and Bea appearing on so many blogs.

Good Morning

My card for today uses one of the Moments In Time stamps from Flowersoft. I love this image.

The image was coloured used Lyra Aquacrayons and a little flower soft added for the grass. The base card used a navy blue cardstock, and as I was asked to make the card for a Preston fan, I created a simple backing paper using the Preston logo. The paper with football boots and footballs on is vellum, and I attached this to the card using dark blue eyelets. A Happy Birthday sentiment completes the card.

Silver Wedding

Good Morning.

Some friends of ours were celebrating their Silver Wedding Anniversary over the weekend. I was a bit stuck at first what to make, and then remembered a card making kit I'd bought from a C & C sale a couple of years ago. I've got quite a few kits in my cupboard that are relatively untouched. I find I usually prefer to start from scratch.

For this card, I took a card blank from the kit and then 'lined' it with white card, simply because I didn't think the card was strong enough for what I had in mind!

I added some decoupage from the kit to the front of the card.

Inside the card, I used a sheet of linen silver card, and embossed and cut out and oval in the centre with the help of my Majestic embossing board.

I embossed some of the same linen card twice, and cut this out to create the shape in the centre of the card. I added an embellishment to each side and added it to the card using jump rings.

(I forgot to check the photos before sending the card and some of them are a bit fuzzy!)

Some organza ribbon, tied with a bow, was added to the other 2 panels of the card and a gem added to the centre of the bows.

It's a while since I made this style of card and I enjoyed it.
